Project: It’s A Boy Girl Thing promotion

A multiple-choice quiz, which keeps track of users answers. The result at the end shows the percentage of correct answers, and compares the results of “girls vs boys”. The user is then prompted to enter their competition details.

Project: Emap “MobileCMS”

An extensive CMS, including calendar, rich-text editors (with strict validation on content and length), image upload with gallery, content duplication and XML output. Facilities were also in place to allow users to edit multiple data items at once, and to create “slide-shows” of linked articles. This CMS was designed to enable editors to design content and schedule it for output (via XML) to an external company who broadcast the data to various formats, including SMS, MMS, WAP, and standard HTML email. As such, the format of both the XML output and the content itself was strictly defined.

This was an interactive quiz designed to determine the users hair type, and therefore recommend what hair-care product they would be most suited to. The user was also entered into a draw to win a sample of that particular product.
This promotion was incredibly successful, with tens of thousands of entries within a few weeks.

Project: Nokia “Music Recommenders” promotion for Kerrang magazine

Much of the content on this site was static. The premise was that there are four “Music Recommenders” who each week supply new reviews for the site. Users are then able to vote on which reviewer they like best, giving comments etc. A graph of who is recieving what votes was built dynamically on the page, and a data capture form was provided for taking in user data.

Simple competition form for user details capture to a database. The only distinguishing factor in this promotion was that due to the client being Bacardi, it was necessary to have splash page asking for the user’s date of birth.

Project: Competitions feature on ZooWeekly

Built and integrated a CMS for user registration and competitions. The features needed to be flexible enough that multiple questions with a variable number of answers can be submitted, users must be signed in to enter (and it must be autodetected whether they’re signed in or not), and facilities were needed to filter winners, correct answers etc.

Project: Remington Flirt Academy promotion for Heat magazine and the Remington brand

Stage one of this promo was the same as for FHM (below). In the second phase, users were able to submit their stories/experiences. These went into a database to be viewed via CMS, and from there flagged to be shown to the live public. (First image.)
The other part of this phase was that users were given the chance to fill out a standard multiple choice quiz, with a JavaScript function which took the user to the correct results page, as defined by whether they chose “Mostly ‘A’s”, Mostly ‘B’s”, etc. (Second image.)

Project: Complete Online Diary/Booking system for the 2007 Fleet News Business Forum

This project involved taking an existing codebase (in ASP) and modifying it to incorporate new features, and to fix previously unresolved bugs. The purpose of this application is to allow Supplies, and Clients, to arrange times to meet using the built in diary system. The software allows users to find which of their counterparts are available, and at what times, easing the process of defining meeting times. There are also facilities to print diaries, block time as busy etc.

Security was made a priority with this project, at the request of the client, with external audits being made before it was made live. Functionality included a form for users to enter their details, and, as a separate page, a comments field, with a list of client approved (via CMS provided to client) comments beneath.
